Preparation for meeting in Warsaw 03.11.2009
WP5: Core services and web access
Focuses on the development and provisioning of high level user interfaces (Web interfaces, Portals and so on) to allow users to run complex workflows
I personally think this fits quite well with one of the directions we are taking
Another interesting aspect could be, imho,
WP6: Data Access and Integration
In that respect I do not know whether we could contribute directly, but certainly it is a kind of activity we may learn from one side and provide feedback from the other
Considering, anyway, that one of the reasons UZH has been "invited" is for strengthening the liaison with users, we will be expected to contribute to
WP2: Dissemination and Communication
more precisely:
Task 1.4.2.1: User community liaison
Task 1.4.2.4: Collaboration
Task 1.4.2.5: Exploitation
So the message I would like to bring there is somehow the following:
UZH is interested in participate through GC3.
We will not be resource providers if not for High level User Interfaces
We will provide a liaison with user community (starting from CH)
We will bring new use cases
We will contribute in developing workflows and User Interfaces
Data management is also an important issue for us (for the community we know), but we would like to learn more first
Appendix: we do not have any possible time to contribute in writing whatsoever for the proposal more than our contribution description in the WPs
In this way we could commit our effort to Networking and Joint-Research activities overlapping at max what we are/will be doing in both AAA/Switch and CCMST SSC
Minutes
Proposal to be submitted to FP7 call part 1.2.3 (23M EU)
Budged should target 2-3M EU over 4 year.
Big vision
Underlying the collaboration between public and private (company) users. Define a business model for the coexistence between academic and industry. There are currently two industrial partners and one semi-private partner. Focus on Users and usability. This project should not be another Unicore development project but rather a way to further support communities with a stable infrastructure and with high level access tools. In the proposal we should emphasize the interaction/synergy with EGI and EMI. Theoretically, being Unicore part of EMI, it should be possible to justify the effort of developing high level interfaces as possible contribution to EGI.
